Deconstruction / Reconstruction
...of a facade
4 Sites: Facades of several buildings – Local Melbourne buildings; the Yarra Building in Fed Square & ACCA, a Zaha Hadid Cultural Centre in Azerbaijan & Aires Mateus residential complex in Portugal. The facades of these structures were selected for their various and distinctive physical elements that I thought would be fascinating to experiment with by reshaping/altering its materiality. This involves breaking an object/structure down and putting it back together. De-constructing then reconstructing its form using the same materials originally featured.
With a focus on the outcome of the process itself allowing for a shift in change, a new state of visual perception.
The process undertaken:
Identify/document all original form and materiality aspects through imagery.
Using Photoshop - Select and extract original aspects.
Deconstruct those physical aspects.
Isolate individual details.
Repetitively reform details either as individual portions, or fragmented sections of the original structures
